A birthday to remember: I slept in first, than got out of bed to a dozen of roses and my Shark. Love it. I can now clean my floors without getting on my knees.(Ouch) The morning was peaceful until a knock on the door.

Friends who I went to Haiti with showed up at my door , yelling "SURPRISE" on my birthday. They brought me lunch and a delicious strawberry whipped cake. Yummy!!! Thank you Septembre Family, Karl, Mary and Terry for making my birthday extra special.

My day only got better, Coral came home from school and her stitches were removed from her leg:-) She was so brave! Than we went to Pepe and Nana's for dinner. I walked in smelling the best food ever: CRAB LEGS. YUMMMMMY!!! MY FAVORITE. The day really couldn't get a better:-)

Thank you everyone who helped make my day so extra special and blessed. By the way we can't forget the messages on FB, text messages and all the phone calls. I'm really blessed. Thank You God for wonderful friends and family.

So when you think the birthday is only on Tuesday Night. My sister gives me a night out on Friday night was dinner than a night at the movies. Just the two of us. Right:-)We arrived at Chili's and the line was long. We were in luck, they had a table for two. Jen kept saying lets go to the bathroom, I just wanted to get our seats first. So I followed the guy back to our table as Jen was still trying to get me into the bathrooms. Walking to our table everyone yells, "surprise". It was so funny. I had no idea the girls were going to be there. I am really blessed with great friends and a truly wonderful sister. Thank you all for a great night out, lots of laughs and Bella having a baby!!!

The school had a Thanksgiving Day! We had Indians, Pilgrims, turkeys and tons of food. Most importantly we gave thanks. One child from each grade come to the front and shared what they were thankful for. Canyon was chosen for 1st grade, they were thankful for, "Mothers & Fathers." All the children grades K-12 had a really blessed afternoon.

Coral was being her busy self, playing! She had tripped over herself and fell into the dishwasher. She cut herself pretty deep in the back of the leg under her butt. OUCH OUCH!! She had to get five stitches. After eight day they pulled the stitches out and the hole in her leg is still pretty deep. They said within two months it will start to look better. "Caution: Dishwasher open"

Haiti: Faith of Life

The only word to come to mind is humbling. Before I left the states multiple friends and family members all called with concerns, worries and lots of questions.

Honestly, I was scared. Feeling the days approaching upon me and knowing soon my feet would be touching a new ground, a life turning moment for me. It wasn’t long after getting off the plane and seeing this country so filled with love and faithfulness to our God; there was no reason to have a scared bone in my body.

There were a couple of times during our mission trip that I knew God was reaching out his hands and letting our bodies just feel the love he had on his people in Haiti. I was in Mountain of Bayonnais visiting the orphanage, when the sounds of a small baby in the other room cried of loneliness. A young girl no older than 8, came into the room carrying Cynthia in her arms, the little baby still crying. . Cynthia reached out her hands and looked me right in the eye, as to say hold me.

I spent the next few hours holding and loving on her. She would be the first to feel the love I had for Haiti. As I walked around the school, church and orphanage I found myself wanting to touch all of them, to share with them how special they were. How much Jesus loved them and I was here to share the love of Jesus with them. I knew within the first 24 hours Haiti was becoming my second home.

I could feel God pulling and showing me everything I could do. I came to love just walking around looking at and wanting to know everything. I couldn’t get enough. One of the hardest parts of the trip was seeing children walking the roads, I kept thinking of my own children.

It amazed me how many young children were on the streets carrying gallons of water on their small heads. God is watching and protecting them. Having a vision still in my head of two small children holding hands walking on the side of the road, not a side walk, but the side of the rode where cars drive 60-80 miles an hour past you. They don’t look behind to see the cars coming right for them not even the 3 year old blinks. Watching women bath their children on the side of the road, looking up at you naked. Our car could very easily go to the right and everyone would be hit, but they just sit there. They can’t feel the fear, or is it they shut the fear out.

It was becoming a little over whelming for me, the yellow eyes looking at you, the sounds of the night and mostly the children who were so hungry wanting just a small piece of bread. I had just bought a necklace and bracelet for my daughter and was wearing it, when I was feeling sadness and not knowing what my purpose was in Haiti. Asking God for direction, understanding, why am I here? I have nothing to offer! As those thoughts ran in my mind, I passed a small house with 7-9 kids playing outside, yelling, “bye-bye, bye-bye”, It was the only English they knew. It was almost like a scene out of a movie, I was talking to them telling them how beautiful they were, using my favorite word in Haiti, “BELL”, (beautiful) next thing I knew they all ran up to me touching my hands, arms, hair and my daughters necklace. A little girl gave me a smile from God himself. I took the red necklace off and put it over her neck. The kindness from your eyes will last me a lifetime. Her sister came over next playing with my hair and asking for my bracelet. I walked away with my hands empty and a lesson from God. I was only a few feet away when I realized I had about a dozen children walking beside me wanting to hold my hand. I didn’t want to leave; I wanted to share with them the love I had to give. I think we use the word, “LOVE,” without the understanding of what it means. When your heart breaks for someone else and you just want to take the pain away from them, give them a little happiness, share your heart with them. That’s LOVE.

Sunday was our last day in Haiti; it was a day God made sure to last. Having the honor of listening to two of my friends preach the gospel words from their hearts. Speaking about Jesus and the love he has for even the people who don’t know him. Tod Mowery and Djumy September have a gift to share the love with the Haitian people.

Two different men come together as ONE, to spread the word. Tod sharing in English as Djumy translated in Creole, they read each other minds and held everyone listening, on the edge of their sits, wanting to hear what they both had to say next. Hearing their voices echo in the village, people stood outside to hear how special they are to God. It was a privilege to listen as the word of God was shared with so many who suffer, who believe in something we all want, faith, love and hope. After worship we walked to the river to watch as two men gave their life to our Lord. How remarkable to watch someone publicly hand there life over to Jesus.

To see how they endure from being hungry having nothing but maybe the clothes on their backs, to still believe God hasn’t left them, but he sent his one and only son to them. To watch them give their life over to Jesus, to share their faith in one and only one, Our Savior Jesus Christ. I was Baptist a few years ago, but for the wrong reason, not because I wanted my life to be like Jesus, but to act like my life was.

So it was an honor when Travis Walker held my hand and publicity Baptist me in the river of Haiti, to show not only the love and faith I have for my Savior, but for the new love I had for Haiti.
We had the privilege after the service to go back to the village and work on the church, building new stairs, delivering a stove to the preacher’s house and watching how the day moves in the village of the Haitian people.

Sitting on the cold concrete, preparing dinner with a dozen women, holding and talking with the children as I just watched how extraordinary this was God country, I felt like a story out of the Bible. So plain, simple, faith driven, devotion, loyalty and complete dedication surround me as I listened to the sounds of children play, men working, women doing their daily chores and the animals sharing in the chatter.

One little boy was on the pouch playing with his flip flops, making the sounds of a car, zooming past him. It’s amazing their imagination, how something so simple for us, is gold to them. To end our last night in Haiti, we brought a projector with us to show a movie. It was the perfect ending to a perfect week. Watching a movie on the church floor surrounded by the love of many children, I felt the angels present; I honestly didn’t want the night to end. Hearing the laughter and watching the smiles of some many with so little.
Haiti was a place of peace for me. Knowing in the world today we have people who believe in the word of God and live only by the faith of the bible, this is how they get out of bed each day and survive the long hard life they have. I believe one person can make a difference, a person with a vision and a person who has the belief that God can do anything. Haiti culture doesn’t need to change; they just need a person strong enough to believe life can be better. Build a village strong enough to withstand earthquakes, a church, school and medical clinic. Build the walls around them to start a new life, teach them how they can work together as a community, with the love of God on their side. One person, with a dream, a vision and a little faith, I can look in the mirror and know God put me on that plane for a reason, even after saying, “NO”, someone believed in me, and now it’s time for me to believe.

(An Open Letter from a C.A.R.H.A.member)
As I sit down to write this I am back from Haiti less than 24 hours. I will try to gather my thoughts and articulate to you what this experience has done to me, my prospective on life, possessions and priorities. First let me give you some background. My husband Bob and I have sponsored a child in Haiti since we met Djumy at Calvary Chapel PSL. We were pretty pleased with ourselves for taking this step and helping someone we would surely never meet. We signed a monthly check and occasionally thought about her plight. Through a series of events, over a period of months, this child became real to us, and I knew I had to meet her. I knew little about MyDarline, but I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt God wanted me to go to Haiti to meet her, and her family. Let me assure you the idea of a mission trip, was not in my vocabulary or thoughts. I had friends who went and shared their stories and to be honest I was not moved to do anything, but listen. Meeting MyDarling was a stirring experience. She was shy like any other child of her age. She is just over 3 years old. I never did meet MyDarline’s family as she lives quite a distance from the school she attends daily, and unlike her I did not attempt the journey. She lives in the mountains. She, like many others, walks long distances through rough terrain for the opportunity to learn. She is one of the fortunate ones as she is sponsored and gets to eat everyday while at the CARHA School. The menu is always the same. Rice, beans, or spaghetti. There are many other children who currently attend the school and are hungry. At home they may or may not have any food. They come anyway to be taught. I was part of a team that did Vacation Bible School for over 500 children at several CARHA locations. Their Bible knowledge was amazing and accurate. The teachers in Haiti are doing a wonderful job of educating these children for little or no pay. I witnessed hearts of servant hood like I have never seen before. CARHA needs more people to support their efforts. There are so many who are in need of assistance. I am aware, not everyone will go and visit these children. I understand the obstacles. If each person would do something, these children would have a hope for a future. Please search your hearts and ask God how you can get involved.

Do you have part of a family who you just don’t talk to? The reasons, well I’m sure they were good ones, but really life is so short. We all have family members that sometimes we just don’t know very well. I am one of these people. I have a huge family; I’m blessed with a wonderful mother, two great dads and a nana. (I don’t like the word step mom) Countless, cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. This is something I believe I take for granted. Well, when I went up north I saw my aunt and cousin who I haven’t seen in years. I’m 35 years old, old enough to know I’ve made so many mistakes in my life, I for one have no right to judge. This word is a strong and deadly word, “JUDGE.” So many of us live everyday life, looking and acting like we are better than the next person. I only speak for myself, but I try my hardest every day not to lay judgment on someone. The past has hunted me and when I found the Lord Jesus, he forgave me for my many, many, many sins. The judgments I had against others, the way I would think I knew better and yes do better than most. This is where two important people come into my life, I judged. For no other reason than to Judge, I’m a mother of three beautiful children. I know I make mistakes every day. There are times when I look at myself and say I hope my kids don’t remember that. But they might and they might judge me. I pray and ask them for forgiveness, because I want to raise them to remember we are human and we make mistakes. We are not better than anyone else. We should stand tall and be proud of who we are. But don’t forget to be the first person to be a judge against yourself. My point is four very long years went by not seeing my grandma because I had judged.
You need to just left it go; let the past be the past. Family is too important. Needless to say, because this family let go of the past we came together and we came together to meet more family.I met three of my second cousins. My children met not only three cousins, but a second cousin and a aunt. This was pretty cool. To look at these kids and know they can become friends instead of strangers who live up north. Sometimes you just need to let things go, and take baby steps and just maybe be the one who says, “sorry.”

Grandma Rose

The day before Christmas we received a phone call my grandma, (grammie) had a heart attack. I haven’t seen my grandma in four very long years. This is a woman who was a big part of my life growing up. I really don’t remember her not living with us. Coming home from school grandma always had a snack ready and something good cooking on the stove. When the rest of my friends were looking for apartments and living with friends, I wanted my grandma to be my roommate. She was/is always a big part of my life. Chason my little man hadn’t met his great grandma. So when I received this terrible news I wanted to rush out the door. I didn’t want someone this important in my life not be part of my child life. Within 24 hours the doctors sent her home and we made plans to spend time together this summer. Well, she went home and had another heart attack. We packed our stuff and out the door driving 30 hours north with our three children. Grandma did make it after several heart attacks. Her lungs have basically given up on her. She’s now on oxygen and her body is slowly disappearing. The doctors for as long as I can remember have told her she wasn’t strong enough for surgery. So there’s no attack they can take on her. Our family got to spend less than 24 hours with my grandma. I pray this woman who has outlived many doctors saying she doesn’t have a chance lives another miracle of not having any surgery till this summer. These past couple of years I have lost many important people in my life, its heart breaking, it sad but at the same time it’s happiness. I will one day be with my loved one again, but not on this place called earth. Remember the people who helped mold you into who you are as a person and don’t’ let time get in your way. I love you grammie, and I’m glad I had the chance to hold you one more time and my babies saw a women who I love dearly. Keep healthy and pray every night to get stronger

DISNEY for Christmas

For Christmas my dad R. give our family the coolest present. DISNEY PASSES!!!! So we gave the kids a day at the park for Christmas. We had a blast. We started at Epcot and toured the countries. We also visited Nemo clams. Next we skipped over to Animal Kingdom, we were sad to remember that the safari closed at 4:30. We still had fun riding the Dinosaur ride and were scared out of our pants when Rex almost ate Canyon. Last we headed over to Magic Kingdom. We saw some of the fireworks; the beautiful castle lit up and rode a couple of rides. All time favorite is BUZZ. Thank You Dad R. for a pretty cool gift that our family can use year round. Now come visit so you can join the fun

Good Morning Jesus! Our morning was beautiful. The kids slept until 7:30 than we slowly opened gifts and enjoyed the moment. We stayed home and just played and played. We did however, make a fast trip outside to see the doctor. Yes, Chason has the FLU, I felt so bad for the little guy. Coral and Canyon played outside with daddy, many games and watched movies. Chason and mommy slept most of the afternoon away. We did however make a new tradtion this year (I HOPE) going out to dinner on Christmas Day. A very very amazing and wonderful day!!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!! We hope that this season’s greetings find you and your family in good health. We have been so blessed this year in so many ways, and we thank the Lord everyday for what he has given us.

All three of our children are blessings in themselves. Coral is growing so fast. She amazes us every day with her kind and generous heart. The love she shares with others. She’s taking school by a storm, being a super speller week after week and a whiz in math. She loves reading books and wants to go to college to be a teacher. Her teacher, Mrs.Breakey, has really opened her eyes into teaching others. She’s also an amazing big sister to her two little brothers. Her teeth have all come in and her smile has mirrored her Aunt Laverne. I pray she never loses that sweet smile of hers. Coral experienced her first concert this year with her brother and about 20 other kids, Jonas Brothers!! Music has become a big part of her life, she loves to sing all the up to date songs, but turn on the Christian music and she’s shines like a star. Our little girl is growing so fast, Dora has been replaced by iCarly. She bushes her own hair, ties her shoes and yes even picking out her clothes. We are so proud of her, we can send her to friends and know she’ll be kind and be a blessing to all.
Canyon has experience many news things this year. During this fall, he had his first experience with flag football. Believe or not his team was the “Nittany lions.” ‘WE ARE PENN STATE’ He really loved playing, but baseball is still his favorite. . He’s counting the days until our nights are spent on the diamond field. We were surprised to find him able to stand on a surf board the first time in the water. His letters to Santa are a “surf board please.” He also has big interest in skate boarding. He could spend hours outside riding his board up and down the street. Just like his sister he’s smart as a whip. Spelling, reading books and math come so easy for him. His mind is always running and is so interested in anything. He’s growing up so fast and is taking the role of teaching his brother. Canyon is so good with him; he’s a great big brother. The cutest is watching them in the room together and Canyon picks out his clothes and dresses Chason. They are both BOYS, always running, climbing, and getting into mischief.
Chason, WOW Chason he is not a baby any more. He’s new nick name is Junior. In addition to always being right, he walks, eats and talks like his daddy. He keeps us on our toes from morning to night, not really knowing what he’s going to do next. He surprises us with something new every day. He’s his brother and sister biggest fan. Every morning waking them up and telling them it’s time for school. He rubs there back and makes them smile. His daddy is his hero, every night when Curtis walks in the door Chason is right there to greet him and find out how his day was. Telling his daddy he did a great job and he loves him. After six months of ear infection we decided to put tubes in his ears. Within a week we saw a huge difference, he was talking up a storm, words flying out faster than we could teach him. He became a new little boy with a voice. He also started pre-school; he loves his class and his new friend Zacky. Chason is growing so fast and is a great little boy who everyone falls in love with. He has his big sister’s love and shares it with everyone.

I sit here tonight knowing how blessed I am. My heart though misses so many people. I have a beautiful and wonderful family here in Florida but I have a whole other family up North. My mom, I love her so much. I miss her so much I miss her tons and my heart aches for her, especially this time of year. Chason's school Sunlight Christian Academy put on a Christmas production. The show was Fabulous . They sang songs, had little words to say and a story was read. The kids loved it and the adults laughed, smiled and some cried. It was wonderful.

Happy Birthday Canyon. This is my big man. He's such a great kid with a mind that runs 24/7. It doesn't stop. He loves everything and plays any sport you give him. But BOY, OH BOY is he ever a BOY. He loves to climb on everything, jump off the roof if he could, loves being a clown and most of all thinks he knows everything. He was my biggest baby 6lbs and 14oz. He came out screaming and didn't stop till about 14 months. He knew what he wanted and yelled until I figured it out. He kepted me up all the time. Only sleeping an one or two at a time, or when Curtis drove around town for hours in the car. Than one day it stopped, he became this perfect baby. He is my big man, I love you Canyon.. Canyon's First Field Trip

Canyon had a blast on his first field trip. The show at Sunrise Theater in Fort Pierce was about a green super hero teaching the kids how to eat healthy. Some of the show was 3D. It was pretty cool. Canyon also got to ride the big yellow bus. He loved every minute.

Nicole and Nick also rode the big yellow bus with us. The boys 100% had more fun then us moms.

My little girl turned the big 7. She has grown so much this year. It's hard to believe this little girl was only 5lbs 10oz. She would sleep in her pink crib with her thumb in her month and her cute little but sticking up in the air. Within hours she had her first smile across her face. She was always so happy, (still is) making the cutiest little sounds and making everyone around her happy. She still finds that thumb once in awhile, and I have a few pictures I'm saving for her wedding that's proof of her sleeping patterings. We love you Coral Courtney Stumbaugh. Happy 7th Birthday.

Hello,
I would like to tell you a little about myself. I am a happily married to Stephanie, and a proud parent of three wonderful children. My wife and I have given our children some unique names. My daughter’s name is Coral, and my two sons are Canyon and Chason. They are the loves of our lives. I am proud to say that I spend all my free time with my family. This does not mean that we are ‘home bodies’! The whole family is active in the outdoors, sports, and our extended family.
My daughter, Coral, is a member of the Indian River swim team. She is also my oldest. In addition to swimming, Coral also likes playing soccer, performing shows for her family, and taking care of her younger brothers. Coral has the brightest smile you will find on six year old. She is daddy’s ‘little princess’.
Canyon, my second child, is a typical all-American boy. He truly enjoys all things outdoors. Canyon plays baseball for Port Saint Lucie Nationals and flag football for Port Saint Lucie. He also has show interest in other sports including: lacrosse, hockey, skateboarding, surfing, and soccer. Boating and fishing is another passion of his. He is a very busy five year old.
Then there is my baby, Chason. He is only two but he tries to do everything his older brother is doing. I believe he will as active and athletic as my other two. Chason’s major accomplishments so far are: he is wearing ‘big boy’ underwear, learning to swim, and keeping the whole family on their toes. I am proud of all three of them!
I could not talk about my children without mentioning the woman that made this all possible. Stephanie, my lovely wife, deserves all the credit for my wonderful family. She is definitely the ‘strong tower’ for me and my children. Thankfully, she is a full time stay at home mother and wife. Stephanie stays very active with our children. She is President of the PTO organization at our children’s school, she is my daughter’s Brownie leader, and she gets the kids to all of their practices or games, and most importantly the love of my life. Thanks honey for all that you do!

Awana Awards

For the past nine months the Coral and Canyon both have gone to Awana on Wednesday nights. They love going and learning about our Lord savior. They come home with new verses every week and practice all week long. We read story together in there books that teach them about who there are and why our God is so good. They both have graduated from there class and received many different awards throughout the year and a final certificate this evening. Canyon graduated from Cubbies and will move onto Sparks. Coral graduated from her first year of Sparks and will start her second year this fall.

Chason was a proud brother and shared his love with Coral and Canyon:-)

Summer Fun at the Rapids

Oma treated us to a fun filled day at the Rapids. The kids, even the big one really had a blast. We found a ride that our whole family could splash down. Chason loved it and raced back up the hundreds of stairs to hop on the family tube again. Us girls really enjoyed the quite time sitting on the tubes and going in circle on the lazy river
